Prof. Dr. Arno Schindlmayr became a professor of theoretical physics with focus on computational physics at the University of Paderborn in the summer semester 2008. Before this he was a research associate at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin and later at the Institute of Solid State Research at the Research Centre Jülich. His research field is theoretical spectroscopy. Within the framework of many-body perturbation theory he develops quantitative ab initio methods to study the material-specific electronic excitation spectra of solids. Besides quasiparticle band structures, these also comprise collective modes like spin waves, plasmons and excitons as well as their dynamics.
